Our mission at St. Alban's Children's Ministry is to provide a fun, loving, and safe environment where children are formed in the Christian faith through Bible-based curricula and hands-on activities. We want all children to know God's love for them in Jesus Christ, and that God's amazing grace is for them, too.

Children's Chapel

During the 9:00 and 11:15 AM services, all children are invited to participate in Children's Chapel, an age-appropriate worship service that takes place in Mahan Commons. After the second scripture reading, the Priest will invite all children forward for a blessing before they are dismissed for Children's Chapel. (If you're new or your children are nervous, parents are welcome to accompany their children forward and go to Children's Chapel with them.) The children then follow the Children's Chapel Leader out of the church during the hymn before the Gospel reading. This allows parents and caregivers the chance to listen to the sermon while their children receive instruction at their own level. The Children's Chapel leaders will bring the children back to the church during the Passing of the Peace, right before Communion.

Kids Connection

Started in 2015, this joint ministry of St. Alban's, First Presbyterian Church, St. Paul's Episcopal Church, and Austin Ave. Methodist Church is for children in 4th through 6th grades. We meet quarterly, after church, for games, a service project, and a lesson. Location rotates among the three churches. Contact Aaron Everic for dates and information.

Other Events

We have other wonderful events for children throughout the year: wreath-making in Advent, our St. Alban's Day picnic, our Easter Egg hunt, and more. These events are listed in our monthly newsletter, The Epistle, our weekly email, and our weekly "Getting Connected" section in our worship bulletins.

Our children's ministry is currently led by Aaron Everic, Director of Children's Ministry, along with a dedicated team of volunteers. If you have any questions about our children's ministry, please contact Aaron.

Safe Church

Every member of our staff and vestry, and all staff and volunteers who work with youth and children, are certified by the Episcopal Diocese of Texas's Safeguarding God's Children program. This includes a background check and abuse prevention and awareness training.

Volunteer in Children's Ministry

At St. Alban's, Children's Ministry is a ministry we all share. It's the norm that parents of children in our ministry volunteer either in Children's Chapel or Sunday School. But lots of non-parents volunteer as well. Since Jesus put children at the center of his ministry, we believe that children's ministry is for the whole church. We invite you to join our team of dedicated volunteers. Roles include teaching Sunday School or serving as Doorkeeper (a second adult present to help the facilitator with crafts and activities).
