The Story of Our Campaign

Strategic Planning: St. Alban's 2020

In the summer of 2014, the leadership saw the need for a comprehensive strategic planning process for St. Alban's. This strategic plan was to guide our mission and ministry, rethink our vision, and help provide the framework to guide us into the next five years of our life together.

This process resulted in a clarified Mission Statement and redefined Core Values in September 2014.

In response, six task forces were commissioned to develop long-term goals and intermediate objectives. These groups met many times over the fall of 2014 to develop plans for the five areas identified in the parish visioning events as important to our future: Children and Youth, Outreach and Mission (broken into two separate committees), Adult Christian Formation, Membership and Growth, and Fellowship/Community. Their hard work has produced exciting plans and goals for the future. Their initial reports were presented in the 2014 Annual Report.

Master Planning

In the spring of 2015, in the face of significant growth in membership and ministries that strained our dated facilities, our leadership recognized that our current campus presented a challenge to our mission. A Master Planning Committee was formed to develop a comprehensive plan for our buildings and grounds over the next year. The members of the committee were Paula Campbell, Stewart Kelly, Kay Olson, Cathy Ratcliff, Jim Sartwelle (Chair), and Joe Wade. The Rector and Senior Warden, David Tekell, served as ex officiomembers.

Working with CasaBella Architects of Austin, TX, the committee developed a comprehensive Master Plan, approved by the Vestry in July 2016. The plan incorporated both new construction and renovation of existing spaces, ensuring more and better space for ministry to youth, children, and families; a welcome and accessible campus for people of all ages; and expansion and enhancements to our campus to ensure a solid foundation for ministry for years to come. The plan contained four phases, to be completed over 10 to 15 years.

In August 2016, the church hosted twelve Focus Groups to introduce the Master Plan to the congregation and to solicit feedback and get input. The results were compiled into a feasibility study by James D. Klote and Associates. Over 40% of the households of St. Alban's participated in Focus Groups. The study recommended that based on the strong congregational response, St. Alban's launch a capital campaign to accomplish Phase 1 of the Master Plan. On September 6, 2016, the vestry voted to accept this recommendation and launch the Our One Foundation Capital Campaign. Preliminary work for the campaign is now underway. Campaign Co-Chairs are Stewart & Tracy Kelly and Angela & David Tekell. Honorary Chair is Mrs. Margie Allen.
